Yarn Acrobatics - Cirque d' Yarn

Nice pretty pictures for you to look at today. Another day of yarn here.
Wow, I did alot of winding of sock yarn today. What a beautiful sight, each yarncake trying to outdo the other and scramble up to become King of the Stash.

Someday, these little yarncakes will become socks, or shawls. Who knows? They are all so soft, and gorgeous in color.

No yellows here. Just vibrant purples, greens, blues and that pretty pinky-peach.

More knitting on Ishbel shawl done today. It's coming along very well, thank you.

How do you spell amethyst??

I recently bought some beautiful hand-dyed yarn in the color - amythest, or amethyst, or any variety of spellings you can dream up. The color is subtle variations on lavender, and purples, like fields of lavender in Provence. My yarn is a lovely combination of merino wool, silk and sea cell, by Handmaiden and hand-dyed in Canada.

My plan was to knit a shawl in my down time after my surgery. Indeed, I started the shawl this past week, and the pattern is Ishbel - which seems to be very popular in the knitting sphere right now. Rightfully so, because it is very clearly written with both charts and written directions.

Lace knitting with charts is a great change from baby knitting. I might even go for knitting a second lace shawl, or not. Perhaps even finish the Icarus shawl that I started three years ago. I really got bogged down on that shawl because of the size US#3 needles. What was I thinking?? It is taking forever.

Anyway, here is the progress on Ishbel, or Amethyst Beauty.

Going Organic

So I have just finished a knit for me! I am particularly happy with this finished knit, and will take it with for some amazing photo shots in Spain and France. Follow the tunic to Barcelona and the French Riviera.
In the meantime, here's one last look from Southern California on a beautiful Memorial Day weekend:

Specs:

Tahki Jeans Empire Tunic

Yarn: Tahki Jeans in Khaki color - 100% cotton
Size 9 Needles
5.4 skeins (729 yards)
From the Book: Terra Collection 3 by Tahki Yarns

I really love this pattern and yarn! Relatively easy to knit and very flattering. I am in love with the organic cotton cabled yarn - it knits up light and airy. You can feel the organic, earthy nature of the yarn. Everybody is going green this summer in knitting. Organic is just the rage, and I'm on the bandwagon! I'm even wearing a green jade pendant.

Introducing Little Butterfly-Ladybug

A finished knit for wear very soon, I hope.............

I finished this knit a couple of days ago. I added snaps to the back straps for adjustment and growth. 100% cotton for cool summer days. It is very soft and just the perfect top for layering with skirts, and shorts, etc.

I love the ruffles, and the butterfly buttons!
