Pass the Scapel - Emergency Transplant Required

Well, we have run into a problem that requires some emergency surgery (also known as frogging in knitter-ease lingo). I was happily bipping along with good progress on the chuppah. In fact, the intended couple got shown the progress when they stayed over the weekend. (they seem to love it so far). Anyway, soon after I bragged about my skill in aligning the star points, I sprayed the fabric with water and ironed. To my upper dismay and horror, I noticed blue batik ink on the yellow diamond point! Ugh!!! I ran to get the stain remover stick and tried this tactic to no avail. I was faced with emergency transplant surgery - can you imagine that?!!I let the whole thing rest over night, thinking that if I left it alone, it might disappear. No! Sadly enough when I came back in the morning it was still there. Next step- surgery.

Tweezer? Check! 4 inch Ginghers? Check! Stiletto seam ripper? Check! I was ready for the do or die moment. Ripping proceeded and the screwed up fabric was excised. Pretty high drama moment I might add. Was I going to be able to recover? I sure hoped that this stepback wasn't going to be fatal.

Well, after much praying that I wouldn't rip the neighboring fabric, the excision was completed and the surgery ended without a problem. You can see the offending blue ink on the lovely yellow fabric.

Now I had to recut and resew the diamond back into place. But I did it and here is the transplanted version:

Okay, and now for the final center section version since you have been so patient. The beige is just the tile floor, so don't get too excited yet. Just thinking,........ hmmm the beige doesn't look too bad. We'll see. There's more rounds to go.

I am SO impressed with the repair job... and wonder how I managed to miss all the excitement while under the same roof. Hmmm.

I can't wait to stand under this masterpiece with your wonderful, handsome, intelligent, and very amusing son!!

Love,
